Basketmakers Southwest is a voluntary organisation that brings together craftspeople interested in all aspects of making baskets, willow sculpture, chair seating, rushwork, the cultivation of willow and other related traditional and modern crafts.
We share information on craft events and courses through our quarterly newsletter. A group of us meets every 3 months to organise the three meetings a year to which all members are invited: rush cutting in Somerset in July, a summer social meeting and our AGM in November. Several times a year we invite a specialist craftsperson to run a course in Devon or Cornwall for the benefit of our members.
We try to ensure that basketmaking and associated crafts are represented at events in the region and promoted in schools and through other community groups.
Membership costs just £7 annually if you are a Basketmakers Association member, £9.00 if you are not.
To apply contact the group Secretary.
